Determining when to Cancel Buses
Winter is coming! ❄️ Did you know that our Transportation department begins their day super early on those extra cold days?
4:00 A.M.: PWPSD's Director of Transportation consults with local weather reports and Alberta 511.
4:30 A.M. - 6:30 A.M.: The Director and another Transportation employee located in the northern end of the division drive the primary and secondary highways throughout PWPSD's attendance boundaries, covering approx. 150-200 kms each, while performing brake tests to determine skid conditions.
6:30 A.M.: The Director determines if buses will be cancelled, and if so, which ones.
6:30 A.M. - 7:00 A.M.: Cancelled buses are posted to the PWPSD website and Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram accounts.
Our Director of Transportation and his team work hard all winter long to determine if the roads are safe for our students and bus drivers!
